Dub producer and international bass player Lenroy 'Bassie' Guiste understands how the bass and drums dictate a sound better than most musicians and his latest released video does not disappoint his followers. A member of The Natural-Ites band, much loved on the Reggae scene in the 1980's and by music lovers such as John Peel, Lenroy has gone onto other projects and collaborations including some fine world fusion work with musicians from many different genres. I last saw him play live at the Nottingham Contemporary several years ago and I was in awe at his understanding of the role a bass player has in a band and that 'less is more'. One note....the right note has more power than a series of complex scales or lengthy slapping solos. One note....at the right time can leave everyone wanting more.
